Client: A VC-backed software headquartered in San Diego

Work:

  • Received a monthly list of keywords

  • Independently developed 15 SEO-optimized blog posts per month

Result: GoSite climbed SERPs for essential keywords within a few months.

Atlantic Media

Client: AtlanticLIVE, The Atlantic’s live events division.

Work:

  • Populated The Atlantic Festival’s website with speaker biographies, daily agendas, and underwriter information

  • Handled embargoed information with discretion and care

  • Performed basic fact-checking and editing duties

Result: A user-friendly website and mobile app that allowed attendees to navigate sessions with ease.

Study Hall

Client: A collective of 4,500+ media workers and freelance journalists.

Work:

  • Wrote landing page copy

  • Created lists of action items for the web developer

  • Migrated 300+ newsletters, articles, and resources from Patreon into WordPress

Result: A new website that allowed Study Hall to reduce expenses and invest more resources in original content.

Work:

  • Curating local events and top news stories from local and national outlets

  • Writing and editing punchy, witty blurbs that concisely summarize stories

  • Brainstorming strategies for future growth and engagement

Result: A highly engaged audience with an open rate more than 2x the industry average.

Rose Theatre

Client: An independent cinema in Port Townsend, WA, with a world-class lineup of movies, plays, ballets and operas from around the globe.

Work:

  • Creating website content for upcoming films, then using it to craft a weekly email newsletter showcasing upcoming screenings and events.

  • Crafting graphics and compelling copywriting to persuade subscribers to stream films.

  • Assisting with UX to streamline the newsletter and drive conversions.

Result: An engaging, informative website and newsletter with an open rate ~2x the industry average.

Scavenger

Project: A weekly personal newsletter featuring original stories about the offbeat histories behind everyday things.

Work:

  • Selecting and researching surprising topics on a weekly basis

  • Producing a short, digestible historic narrative with memorable facts and trivia (500-800 words)

  • Curating links to fascinating articles, videos, podcast episodes, and more

Result: A beloved indie publication with average open rates of 50-60%; editions were later adapted into reported articles for Smithsonian and Serious Eats.
